Sixth Form

Greenbank Sixth Form provides a structured, nurturing and aspirational environment for young people aged 16–18. Our provision is designed to support students as they move towards adulthood, with a strong emphasis on independence, personal development and positive next steps beyond school.

Our ethos is centred on high expectations, respect and individuality. We recognise that each young person’s journey into adulthood is different, and our Sixth Form provision is carefully tailored to reflect students’ strengths, needs and aspirations. Learning programmes are personalised and underpinned by Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) outcomes, ensuring that students are supported to make meaningful progress academically, socially and emotionally.

The Sixth Form curriculum is focused on functional preparation for adulthood. Through a combination of accredited learning, practical experiences and community-based opportunities, students develop the skills, confidence and resilience needed for adult life. This includes preparation for employment, further education, independent or supported living, and active participation in the wider community.

We place a strong emphasis on real-world learning. Students benefit from structured work experience, careers education, and opportunities to engage with external providers, including colleges and local organisations. These experiences enable students to explore future pathways, build independence and make informed decisions about their next steps.

Our aim is for every student to leave Greenbank Sixth Form as a confident, capable young adult, equipped with the knowledge, skills and experiences needed to transition successfully into adult life.
