Numeracy and Literacy

At Greenbank Literacy and Numeracy is not something that just happens in books!

Students at our school have a wide variety of starting points in both literacy and numeracy. Greenbank School students are assigned to a flight path early on in their school career which reflects the level of learning support that is needed in order to support their academic, social and emotional success.

The teaching of literacy and numeracy is central to the curriculum, with both subjects being fundamental in students leaving our school with highest levels of skills in both subjects in order to succeed in college, training or employment.

All pathways are designed for students to achieve their best, resulting in

  • Building learner confidence
  • Ability to demonstrate their understanding
  • Application of their knowledge in order to be functional in their everyday life

Further education providers value the student’s functionality of skills and prioritise this as being highly important when vetting applications to further education establishments.
